Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

Definition

Geographic Information System (GIS) is a system that ties features such as buildings, roads and parcels to the information to which it relates. GIS can be used to analyze, visualize and interpret spatial data of all types and sizes.

Phases

This launch of the new GIS website is the first of two phases. The second phase of the project will add more data to the parcels from the real estate assessment system as well as information from the tax system. Phase 2 will also integrate high resolution photography from the County’s Pictometry system with the website.

Goal

The goal is to make the Gloucester County GIS website a one-stop-shop for any County data related to a parcel.
