Park Events

  • Taste of Gatsby Fundraiser - July 28 at Moose Lodge from 7 to 10 p.m./ Tickets and more information are available online.
  • Adopt a Garden at Woodville Park - Do you love to be outside in nature? Do you love to get your hands dirty? We need your help! We are looking for gardeners to come and help maintain areas of the park’s gardens. It would require weed pulling, trimming and mulching. You can sign up with your office, bowling club or fellow neighbors. It would be an area to call your own and for the whole county to enjoy. Contact Patti McGrath at 804-693-2355 or email Patti McGrath for more information.
  • Pond Critters - Join us for another exciting program about the awesome creatures in the ponds at the park. Dress to get wet and dirty. We will tell you all we know about the interesting inhabitants of the Woodville Park ponds. Event happening July 14.
  • Meteor Shower - Come to Woodville for an amazing view of the night sky during the Perseids meteor shower. Bring your blankets and telescope if you have one. Learn cool constellations and explore the universe. Event happening on July 27.

Park News

Woodville Park is growing everyday with the help of the generous citizens of Gloucester County. Woodville Park is approximately 100 acres in size and is located in Hayes off of Bray’s Point Road. The park started with a gift to Gloucester County of 100 acres by the Lanciano Family. This new nature park contains both wetlands and woodlands, athletic fields and reflective gardens, walking paths and hiking trails. The site plan is available online to see what else is in store for the future of the park.

The next major focus for Woodville Park will be to install a state of the art all inclusive playground. Fundraising is under way. Check out our Park Partners page for upcoming fundraising events.

The construction of the park has been made possible by the generosity of individuals and businesses who have donated money and time and over $800,000 in grant funds. The park won the Best New Park Award in 2013 from the Virginia Recreation and Park Society. Volunteers are always needed. Upcoming work will include field preparation, garden maintenance, trail clearing and more plantings. If you would like to help please email Parks and Recreation. Memorial bricks and benches are also available for purchase to remember your loved ones.
