Services:
The Building Inspection Division works closely with the Board of Building Code Appeals.  This board hears appeals on determinations by the building official and/or denied modifications to the building code. Follow this link  for a description and list of the board members.

Inspector with house graphic Inspections: (Please note the following changes)  Effective January 2009, the Codes Compliance office will process all applications and requests electronically.  This new system will change the current system in which inspection requests are processed.  We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time as we strive to improve our services.  Please note:
Inspections are performed during office hours, Monday-Friday for permits that have been issued,  picked up and paid by the applicant/contractor.  Click on this link for an inspection procedure that lists the order of inspections required.
Inspection requests are taken from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 24 hours on the voice mail system. If the inspection is requested during office hours prior to 4:00 p.m., the inspection will be attempted to be performed on the next day, pending workload of staff.  After 4:00 p.m., the inspection will be attempted to be performed two days following the day requested, pending workload.  After hours inspection requests may be recorded by dialing 804-693-2744.  BE ADVISED; LEAVING AN INSPECTION REQUEST ON THE VOICE MAIL AFTER HOURS DOES NOT GUARANTEE AN INSPECTION AND THE INSPECTION WILL NOT BE THE FOLLOWING DAY.  CALL THE OFFICE TO VERIFY WHEN THE INSPECTION IS SCHEDULED.  PLEASE HAVE THE PERMIT NUMBER READY IN ORDER TO EXPEDITE YOUR REQUEST (EXAMPLE: 09010123)

money graphicFees:  Fees are collected at the time of permit issuance. Plan review fees are collected when application is received.  Checks are accepted made payable to Gloucester County cash is also accepted.  Sorry, no credit cards are accepted.  Click here for the fee schedule.
