Gloucester man indicted in crash that killed 2 friends

GLOUCESTER - A grand jury has indicted a Gloucester man in connection with a January wreck that killed two 20-year-olds who were riding in his car.

Jamie R. Moore, 25, is charged with two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter and one county of driving under the influence in the Jan. 6 crash that killed James Brice Harris and Elizabeth West, both of Gloucester.

A Virginia State Police accident-reconstruction team determined at the time that speed appeared to have played a role in the crash, which occurred near the intersection of Belroi Road and Susan Drive. Harris and West were pronounced dead at the scene, and Moore and his younger brother, Jarrad, were flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Each manslaughter charge carries a sentence of one year to 20 years in prison.
