Gloucester E-911 Database

The E-911 Database is maintained by GIS and updated with the assistance of Verizon. This weekly database update is performed to correct changed phone numbers and addresses when citizens move to new homes or into a newly constructed home. It also contains the response areas for quicker and more accurate dispatches by the fire, rescue, and Sheriff's departments. The database is downloaded to the Sheriff's department to be available for dispatch.

GIS also maintains a MSAG (Master Street Addressing Guide) with Verizon. Updates are sent to Verizon with new street names and address ranges

Our Mission is to maintain a Geographic Information System that:

Provides enhanced 911 support to all local and regional emergency services personnel by creating and maintaining E911 Response Map Books, street maps, and the E911 database.
Provides county administrators, other county departments, and planners with graphic and data analysis tools for decision making and presentations. The GIS includes planimetric and parcel data layers.
Will provide access to the GIS data by the general public, in the near future.
Provides addresses for new construction, names for new roads, and maintenance of street signs. GIS also helps businesses and the general public to obtain addresses and cross reference old to new addresses.
Provides the creation of plots on maps with the tax map parcels superimposed over planimetrics for graphic data analysis and for making presentations. This service is provided to the public and government organizations.
