During Virginia’s Sales Tax Holiday, purchases of school supplies selling for $20 or less per item, and articles of clothing, including footwear, selling for $100 or less per item, will be exempt from sales tax. Tara L. Thomas, Treasurer, Charles H. Stubblefield, Commissioner of the
Revenue, and George D. Bains, Director of Information Technology are
pleased to announce Gloucester County’s Online Real Estate and Business
License System. This system presents live data from the County’s
assessment and billing software on the internet, allowing citizens the
opportunity to research real estate parcels and licensed businesses from
the comfort of their own homes and offices around the clock. The data
reflects changes made since the land book was produced.
The real estate component of the system presents many items of information
that citizens and real estate professionals may find of value. It lists
the owner’s name and address of record, as well as the date the property
was obtained, the deed book reference, the purchase price, and the legal
description. The system also displays the total amount of unpaid taxes
currently assessed and it has a function that will calculate penalty and
interest as of any date entered. Finally, the system will display the
assessment history of the property for as far back as the creation of the
parcel or 1988, whichever is later.
The business license component of the system provides a way for citizens
to enter a business’s name to find the address, the home occupancy permit
number, the year(s) for which a license has been issued, the date each
license was issued, and the type of license issued. License history
information is available beginning with the year 2001.
The system may be accessed on the internet by going to Gloucester County’s
website, www.gloucesterva.info, and choosing “Real Estate and Busn License
System” from the “Select an E-Service” pull down menu. If you have any

The Gloucester County Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office will be closed on November 7th and 8th. The Commissioner’s Office will be relocating from the 1st Floor to the Ground Floor of the Courts and Office Building at 6489 Main Street.
We will reopen on Tuesday, November 12th in our new location. Upon reopening, entry to the Commissioner’s Office will be from the rear of the building only, as renovations continue in other areas. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
