INFORMATION FOR PROSPECTIVE GLOUCESTER COUNTY GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES Hours of Work – The County’s core operating hours are 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M., Monday thru Friday, with a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. Based on the needs of the employing department hours of work may differ from those stated here. Leave - Earned upon completion of a full month of employment and may not be used until earned. Full time employees earn 8 hours Annual leave and 8 hours Sick leave per month, part time employees (20 hrs/wk or more) earn prorated leave. Fulltime employees must have at least 160 hours of paid time credit each month in order to accrue leave. Part-time employees (20 hrs/wk or more) paid time credit is prorated. Holidays - 12 paid Holidays and follow special State Holidays as announced by the Governor. Pay Schedule - Gloucester County pays once a month on the last work day (Monday through Friday) of each month. Direct Deposit is available to all full time and part time (20 hrs/wk or more) employees. Retirement and Group Life Insurance - Authorized for full-time, regular employees through the Virginia Retirement System and is paid for by the County of Gloucester. Health Insurance - Available to full-time, regular employees with the County and participating employees each paying a portion of the premium. All premiums are deducted on a pre-tax basis unless the employee notifies the County otherwise.
