Library Membership
Who is
entitled to a card?
Anyone who lives,
works, owns property or attends school in Middle Peninsula or
Tidewater area is entitled to a free paper library card, a plastic
library card is available with a $1.00 donation given to the Friends
of Library.
What do you
need to bring?
Bring valid
identification; such as a driver's license, school ID or any mail or
official receipt which includes your name and current local address. You
will receive your library card and may check out 2 items of material
at that time.
Afterwards 20 items of material may be checked out.
You can apply on line.

library to pick up your card, bring valid identification.

Come to the library to get your pin number.
You can see the books you have checked out, renew your books or
put a hold on a book from home. Once you have received your pin
number:

Type your
library card number in Patron ID Number box

And type
in your pin number

When placing holds choose
either Gloucester Library or Point Branch only!

Computer Access
The Main Library has 18
computers and the Point Branch Library has 7 computers for the public.
Laptops are also available at the Main Library for patrons 13 years and
older. Patrons must present their library card at the front desk
and sign up for a 1-hour time slot per day for the computers.
All the computers have internet access and word processing. Each
Library also has 2 scanners available for public use.
Printout fees:
0.10/page for black and
white
0.50/page for color

Copy Machines
Both libraries have copy
machines available for public use.
Photocopy fees:
(8.5 x 11, 8.5 x 14, or
11 x 17) 0.10/page
2 sided
0.15/page

Fax Machines
Both libraries offer fax
services for patrons. A free cover page is provided by the library.
Fax Fees:
Long Distance Fax:
$4.00/1st page + 0.50 each additional
Local or Toll Free Fax:
$2.00 flat rate
Incoming Faxes:
0.20 per page
*The Library Staff
does not call patrons when they have an arrived fax. It is the patrons
responsibility to call or stop by the library for the status of a fax.*

Wireless Internet Access
Wireless internet access is
available for free to patrons at the Main Library. Bring in your
laptop computer and connect to the public internet option on your
wireless modem's available signal list.

Interlibrary
Loan
This service allows for
materials such as microfilm/fiche, audio, books or journal articles that
are not in the Gloucester Library system to be borrowed from other
libraries.
To request an interlibrary loan, you must have a valid library card
with no fines. There is a $1.50 fee for your first item and .50¢
for each additional item and a limit of 5 requests per borrower. The fee must be paid at the time of the arrival.
Patrons will be charged the fee even if items are not picked up.
Interlibrary loan requests can be made in
person or by phone at any of the libraries or bookmobile. The average
request takes two weeks. The length of the loan is determined by the
lending library. Renewals are at the discretion of the lending library.
The renewal request can be made either over the telephone or in person.
