STAR Program 

star program graphicGloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism offers the STAR Program for participants with special needs.

  • All Star Programs are set up with rules and activities that are individualized according to the players needs.

  • Volunteers work with the participants as we enjoy each game "our way." 

  • Scholarships are available for all activities

  • Please join us at any stage of the season. 

  • Our goal is for everyone to have a chance to play!

  • Long time special Olympic basketball coach & former NYSCA National Coach Of The Year John Coats is the head volunteer.

  • There is an additional $5 fee for participants that re not Gloucester County Residents.

STAR SOCCER
For ages 5-18 (call PR&T for exceptions & we do have quite a few). A soccer program for kids with special needs. The program is mostly non-competitive & geared towards each individual child experiencing fun & success. An excellent group of volunteers led by a nationally recognized head coach work with the kids giving them the attention they need. 410305-06, March 14-May 23, Fridays, 6-7:30 pm, $12, deadline Friday March 7.

STAR SUMMER FUN

  • For ages 6-18.

  • Children will participate in playing games according to their needs.

  • The program will be individualized for each participant to best help them both physically & for their enjoyment & self esteem.

  • The participants should wear tennis shoes & bring a water bottle.

  • Fee is $10

  • Deadline Friday, June 2

  • Meet on Fridays, June 16-Aug 4

  • 6-7:30 pm

  • Abingdon Park

  • Fee $12

  • Scholarships are available.

Star Basketball

  • For ages 6-18

  • A basketball program for kids with special needs

  • Children participate in basketball according to their abilities

  • The program will be individualized for each participant to best help them both physically & for their enjoyment & self esteem

  • The participants must wear tennis shoes

  • Fee $12

  • Scholarships are available.

STAR TEEBALL

  • For ages 6-18

  • Children participate in playing baseball/teeball according to their needs.

  • This program is individualized for each participant to best help them physically, for their enjoyment & self esteem.

  • Safety balls are used.

  • Participants wear tennis shoes or rubber cleats & bring a water bottle.

  • In Spring Beehive.

  • Fee $12

  • Scholarships are available.

SPRING SOCCER

  • For ages 6-18

  • A soccer program for kids with special needs. 

  • Children participate according to their needs in the individualized program.   

  • Wear tennis shoes or rubber cleats, bring soccer ball and water bottle. 

  • March-May

  • Deadline February

  • Advertised in Winter Beehive

  • Fee $12

  • Scholarships are available.

TRACK & FIELD

  • For ages 6-18.

  • A track program for kids with special needs.

  • Children will participate in track events.

  • The program will be individualized for each participant.

  • Participants should wear tennis shoes & bring a water bottle.

  • Fee $12

  • Scholarships are available.

STAR WINTER GAMES

  • For ages 6 to 18

  • Join us as we put a new twist on some of the old time favorites and even invent some new favorites.

  • Games are active, non competitive and just plain fun! 

  • Fee $12

  • Scholarships are available.

  • Meet on Fridays, June 1-August 3

  • 6-7:30 pm

  • Abingdon Park

  • Fee $12

  • Deadline Friday, May 25.

STAR CAMP

  • For ages 6 & older.

  • If your child enjoys the year-round STAR programs, then sign them up for this summer camp designed with your child in mind.

  • Sign up for one, or all, of the weeks & your child will enjoy arts & crafts, games & a swim day each week!

  • Scholarship funds are available

  • Deadline Friday, June 1 for all weeks

  • Meet Monday-Thursday @ Botetourt

  • 10 am-2 pm

  • $40 per week

  • Week One - June 25-28

  • Week Two - July 9-12

  • Week Three - July 23-26

  • Week Four - August 6-9
