2007 Gloucester County Art Student Show Information back to Directory

photo of phoenix group calendarThe Phoenix Art Group in partnership with Gloucester County Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism is proud to announce the Gloucester County Art Student Show for 2007.  Entries can be Fine Art or Fine Craft.  All art students in Gloucester County are invited to participate, even if you are not currently taking an art class, whether you are in public school, private school or home school.

 The show will be divided into three age groups according to those in the Gloucester County Public School system, elementary school ages 5 to 10, middle school ages 11 to 13 and high school ages 14 to 18.  The age guidelines will apply to students who are not in public or private schools. 

Show Guidelines:

  • Maximum art entry size - 16 inches by 20 inches

  • Maximum craft entry size - not to exceed 24 inches in any dimension or exceed 10 pounds in weight

  • One entry per student

  • No entry fee for this show

  • Copyright authorization must be completed before the Childs entry can be accepted

  • Entries must be received by Friday, December 16, 2005 at the latest.  This includes entries that are being mailed, they must be received by December 16, postmarks do not qualify.

  • Entries may be dropped off at the Parks, Recreation and Tourism Office (Monday through Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm) or the Gloucester Library on Saturdays: November 5, 12, 19,  & 26 or December 3 & 10 between 10 am and Noon.

  • Awards: 12 awards divided between fine arts and fine crafts in each age group and a  “Peoples Choice Award” in each age group.  All participants will receive a certificate of participate.  Winners will receive ribbons and a complementary calendar of their age group when they are printed.

  • Show will be held at the Gloucester Library Community Room, January 5-7, 2006 during normal library hours. 

  • The 13 winners in each age group will be used to create a Gloucester High Art Scholarship Calendar for 2007 with a specific edition for each age group – elementary, middle, high.

  • The parents or guardians of the student who want to participate in this art show will be asked to give copyright authorization to the Phoenix Art Group to reproduce the winning images in the scholarship calendars, in the promotion of the scholarship calendars and other items which could be sold to raise money for the Gloucester High School Art Scholarship Fund.

If you would like to see what the calendar would look like, you can find the Gloucester High School Art Scholarship Calendar for 2006 on sale at the two “Twice Told Tales” stores (Gloucester Main Street and Hayes), Office Supply (in the Edgehill Shopping Center), the Visitor Center (Court House Circle), the Bay School (Mathews) and the Mathews Art Group (The Gallery on Main Street in Mathews).

The Phoenix Art Group is a non profit organization dedicated to raising money for a Scholarship Fund which will be awarded to a Gloucester High School senior who plants to continue their art education on the college level.  Money for the Scholarship fund will be generated by the sale of the Gloucester High School Art Scholarship Calendars and other events which will feature the showing and selling of Fine Arts and Fine Crafts.  For more information, you can write the Phoenix Art Group, P.
