2008 Concerts on the Green back to Directory

Free concerts held on the beautiful grassy, Courtgreen, performed by local groups & individuals that are interested in giving back to our community. They invite you to bring a chair or a blanket & even a picnic, bring the kids, bring the grandparents, everyone will enjoy this music!
Sunday, June 8 - 5 pm - Celtastrophe - What do you get when you mix a welder, a dentist, an office manager, a homeopathic doctor, a dental assistant & a retired nurse with a truck full of music instruments? You get "Celtastrophe" & the name says it all!

Thursday, June 19 - 6 pm
Vector - USAF Heritage of America Band
Not your ordinary brass quintet, they stretch the boundaries of standard chamber repertoire to include Country & Western, funk, Big Band & Dixieland jazz, Broadway show tunes & recognizable Top 40 hits. For a musical event that combines the familiar ceremonial brass group with an altogether new approach to popular music, come & experience Vector.

Robert Matter graphicThursday, July 31 - 6 pm - Songman Robert Matter - Robert brings out the best in folk music from the 60’s...Bob Dylan, John Denver, Cat Stevens & more. From oldies like “Tambourine Man” to his very own “Tangerine Fair” you are sure to enjoy Robert’s music.
Saturday, August 9 - 6 pm - The Project - For the College Age crowd, we offer original music groups an opportunity to perform. Come out & see tomorrow's music in the making.
US 66 graphicSunday, August 17 - 6 pm - Tri County Express - This a cappella group sings a variety of songs you know by heart in the style of the Manhattan Transfer. This performance is held inside the Colonial Courthouse.
Sunday, September 21 - 3 pm - Planet Full of Blues - Virginia's full throttle blues band, a power trio steeped in red-hot Texas blues, Chicago shuffle, Memphis twang & good old Detroit diesel powered rock and roll.
Sunday, September 28-5 pm - Celtastrophe They’re back, Celtastrophe began this years COG series & they are the final performers for this season too! Get ready for some more fun!!!
In case of rain call our Playline 693-5811 for updates on performances. Most concerts will move into the Colonial Courthouse during inclement weather. Please make sure to thank these volunteer performers!
