At a state awards ceremony, Debbie Kelly, Daffodil Festival Committee Chairperson and Denise Carter, Gloucester County Parks, Recreation and Tourism Special Event Supervisor, accepted the 2005 Governor's Conference Virginia-Based Special Event/Program On-Going Event of the Year on behalf of the Daffodil Festival Committee and Gloucester County.  "This is a very prestigious award and is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of the festival committee and county staff who work so hard each year to make the annual event a success," said Carter.  As the committee has started preparing for the milestone 20th Annual Festival to be held on the first weekend of April 2006, a lot of new ideas are being incorporated into the festival to make it bigger and better than ever.  "We are always looking for new ideas and volunteers to join the committee to make them happen," said Kelly.
