County Buildings:  Colonial Court Green

We provide general maintenance and custodial care for all county buildings.

photo of crosswalk leading to the Court GreenGloucester County's buildings date from the Colonial Era through the Twenty-first Century.  Our most picturesque collection is grouped on the Colonial Court Green (left) which is surrounded by a low brick wall.  On the photo's right side are the Colonial Courthouse, the Old Clerk's Office, and the Debtor's Jail.  Facing them across the Green are the Clayton Building, the Roane Building, and the Old Jail.  In the center of the Green is a  Civil War Monument. Another monument honoring a Civil War hero, Gloucester's only Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, Private James Daniel Gardner, was erected in May 2006, several years after this photograph was taken.

Adjoining it is the old Clerk's Office which now houses various County offices.
