Roane Building:  Built around 1890 as the "new" Clerk's office, this structure was made to be fireproof, having fireproof walls, iron gratings and iron doors!

Many records were lost in a fire at the "old" clerks office (Clayton Building) in 1820 and more burned in 1865 after having been sent to Richmond for safekeeping.
