Living History Weekend Oct. 1-2, 2022

The Gloucester Museum of History will commemorate the 241st anniversary of the Battle of the Hook by hosting “Fire, Smoke & Muskets: Gloucester 1781,”a living history program, on Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2 in and around the colonial court circle. The program will be held from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Sunday  - rain or shine - and is free and open to the public.

New Museum Exhibit

New Exhibit!

The Gloucester Museum of History is launching a new exhibit featuring Girl Scout Camp Burke’s Mill Pond this Saturday. The exhibit, which will be available through 2023, will tell the story of the camp as it celebrates 50 years of operation. It will showcase 12 objects, including camp wear and official Girl Scout items from the 1970s. 

The exhibit will also include photographs and archival documents allowing guests to make connections with the thousands of Girl Scouts who have attended the camp over the past 50 years.

This month, we sit down with Robert Kelly, Gloucester's Museums Coordinator. Robert is a true history buff and is extremely engaging. In the short 2.5 years he has been in the role, Robert has worked to expand the Museum's offerings inside and outside of its walls.

Lafayette Ruins

Save The Date- An Evening With Lafayette At The Ruins

Meet the Marquis de Lafayette and be transported back to 1824 when he returned as “Guest of the Nation.” Enjoy period music, witness a rousing musket salute, and partake in a stunning selection of local food and drink. Featuring internationally acclaimed interpreter Mark Schneider.

Tickets cost $75 and will be available September 15. 
All proceeds will benefit future educational programming at Rosewell and the Gloucester Museum of History.
