Victims Rights
If you are a crime victim or witness, we are here to help you. Victim's and witnesses to crime have certain rights under Virginia's Crime Victim and Witnesses Rights Act. The Victim/Witness Assistance Program is designed to support individuals affected by crime and explain their rights within the criminal justice system. Our program staff consists of specially trained advocates to assist with crisis intervention, explanation of the criminal justice system and what to expect, referrals to community agencies for counseling and financial assistance, petitioning for a Protective Order, and filing a claim with the Virginia Victim's Fund for out of pocket expenses.
