The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) department aims to:
To maintain the GIS website for free public access to county mapping.
To provide county administration, county departments, and planners with graphic and data analysis tools for decision making and presentations.
To provide enhanced 911 support to all local and regional emergency services personnel by creating and maintaining E911 Response Map Books, street maps, and the E911 database and assigning 911 addresses to new construction.
The GIS office is responsible for assigning addresses to new construction. There is occasion where addresses are required on other structures. This is to ensure the proper delivery of Enhanced 911 service to the citizens of Gloucester County.
The Enhanced 911 (E911) database was created and implemented that in any given emergency, Gloucester dispatch could successfully direct emergency service personnel to locate and service the citizenry of Gloucester.
