Palette Pals Reception featuring 1st Grade & Kindergarten Palette Pals at Arts on Main

Join us for a reception featuring 1st grade & Kindergarten Palette Pals from 6pm-7pm on June 8, 2023. Each participating student will have a piece of artwork on display. People’s Choice Awards will be awarded to one student from each school. Stop by the gallery to vote early for your favorite artwork starting May 18th or cast your vote at the reception before 6:30pm. The gallery is open Wednesday- Saturday from 12pm-5pm. Winners will be announced at 6:45pm the night of the reception.

Open Studio at Arts on Main

Join us for Open Studio every Friday afternoon! Bring your art & supplies and paint from 12:00pm-2:00pm. You’ll work alongside other artists in the community, create new friendships, and get great advice on your next masterpiece. There is no cost to attend and no need to make reservations.

VIMS Marine Science Day

VIMS' annual open house is a fun-filled event for the whole family. Join us in Gloucester Point for exhibits, family-friendly crafts and activities, seining and collecting animals in the York River, tours of our labs and facilities, seafood cooking demonstrations, mini-lectures, and much more. All activities are free, as is parking. The event proceeds rain or shine. Advance registration is greatly encouraged and appreciated (on website).

Paint & Sip w/ Hanah at Arts on Main

Paint & Sip w/ Hanah Saturday, June 10th 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm Join Hanah Hailey for a Paint & Sip night! Create an acrylic pour painting while enjoying a drink- perfect for a date night/night out with your friends! Beer, wine, and all art supplies will be provided. Each participant will receive one drink of choice. This class is meant to be stress-free and relaxing, pour a drink and pour some paint! This class is beginner-friendly and open to all levels! Hanah teaches roughly 2 classes a month and rotates between different techniques of acrylic pouring in each class. In this class, she will be teaching the “Ring Pour” method. Note: You might get messy! Wear something that you wouldn’t mind possibly getting paint on. Cost per student is $45.

Oyster Paint Night w/ Kelly Richards at Arts on Main

Join Kelly Richards for a paint night at Arts on Main! Students will be painting oysters using acrylic paint on canvas. Image above will be used for inspiration. Kelly will provide all materials. Bring a friend and come have fun! This class was designed for adults, but Kelly welcomes all ages!

Beginners Watercolor Class with Jan Finn-Duffy: Tulips at Arts on Main

Join watercolor artist Jan Finn-Duffy for a fun class of mixing paint and water to create an original piece of art! No skills are necessary when you arrive, but don’t be surprised if you have a few watercolor skills when you leave! All supplies are provided by the instructor. Just come to experience the joy and fun of painting!

Paint Your Octopus w/ Rebecca at Arts on Main

Join Rebecca West on June 16th and come paint a colorful fantasy octopus. Use brushes, a palette knife, and acrylic or oil to create an underwater display of dancing octopus tentacles. Construct a Felted Purse by Janet Griffin at Arts on Main

Fabricate a wearable art piece! Form of purse will be approximately 12’’ wide by 14” tall. We will choose our top quality colors of Corriedale and Romney fibers, as well as silk to construct our one-of-a-kind work of art. This class is open to adults and teens!

Summer Art Exploration Camp: Preschool Round 1 (Ages 3-5) at Arts on Main

Arts on Main is excited to host FREE summer art exploration camps during the summer of 2023! Our young students will be making “Art for Art’s Sake!” Focusing on fine motor skills, tactile activities, and getting very messy, the kids will explore art through the ages starting with making cave paint and ending with modern sculpture using handmade clay. We will offer 2 sessions of the preschool camp with the same lessons being taught during both. There will be a limited number of spots available. 1st Annual BBQ Cook-off & BAGS Tournament

Mark your calendars now and come join us for an afternoon of fun which will include a BBQ contest, Cornhole Tournament, music, kids activities, raffles, vendors, and much more as we raise money to put towards community projects. 3 Day (June 28-June 30) Heirloom Collage & Mixed Media Exploration with Theresa Wells Stifel at Arts on Main

Create your own mixed media masterpieces using those little pieces of memories too precious to throw away! Your quirky snippets, papers, jewelry, fabric, or any small odds and ends can be layered to create a charming and personal piece of art. If you want to practice without worrying about ruining a special object, extra supply packets will be available to purchase for $5 a bag so you can play with a free spirit. You will learn how to layer paint, paper, photos, trims, fabric and more. We will learn different types of gluing, fusing and stitching methods to build interesting layers for your pieces.
