Living History Weekend Graphic

On September 9-10, the Gloucester Museum of History will host Fire, Smoke & Muskets. The museum and surrounding areas will come to life with the sights and sounds of the American Revolution, including an appearance by the villainous British Lieutenant Colonel Banastre Tarleton (presented by world renowned interpreter Mark Schneider of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation).

The weekend will include cannon and musket firing demonstrations presented by the 7th Virginia Regiment, along with colonial cooking, and period musicians. The Battle of the Hook took place in Gloucester County on October 3, 1781, and was the largest calvary engagement of the Revolution. This free and family friendly program will align with Virginia’s Standards of Learning (SOLs) for students of all ages, with emphasis on Virginia studies, the American Revolution, and the Franco-American Alliance.
